October Monthly Meeting
Benefits and Employee Retention in an Age of Personal Responsibility Findings from the 7th Annual MetLife Study of Employee Benefits Trends
Thursday, October 1, 2009
Speaker: Susan Galya, Senior Marketing Consultant, MetLife
This continuing education course has been developed around MetLife’s various surveys, research, and analyses of employee benefits trends completed in 2008. The new analysis provides key insights to important industry trends that are beginning to emerge.
This year’s study found that employees, now faced with new economic realities, place a greater value on their benefits than they have in the past. The Study also confirms that despite recessionary pressures, employee retention remains U.S. employers’ top benefits objective; and benefits remain a consistently important driver of employee loyalty. Because cost control is a very close second benefits objective for employers— and the economy is asserting additional pressures to balance benefits expense and value— it is important that employers understand how to maximize the return on their benefits program’s investment. Employers also said increasing productivity is a top objective, perhaps because they are faced with the realities of accomplishing more with fewer employees.
Key Learnings and Session Objectives:
- Aligning Benefits in Challenging Times
- Benefits Solutions for Employee Priorities
- Benefit Strategies for engagement and Personal Responsibility
- Rebuilding Retirement Security
This course helps us to understand and communicate to our various employer group clients about issues they may want to begin planning for. Employers who recognize the opportunity to take a leadership role by offering creative benefits solutions and financial advice and guidance will position themselves to emerge from these challenging times with their most valuable asset—the people who work for them—focused and engaged.
