Pharmacy Costs: “Can I Make a Difference?”
Thursday, October 2, 2008
Speaker: Terry Maves, RPh
In the past six years, 800,000 Wisconsin residents have moved from fully insured to self-insured or public health insurance. What does this mean for physicians, pharmacists, pharmaceutical manufacturers, insurers, businesses and the public? This program will help you understand:
- What health care practitioners can do to help make medications and services affordable in the future.
- How specialty pharmacy will play a huge role in the coming years and how this will affect employers and patients.
- A pay for performance program and how it affects the future delivery of health care.
Terry Maves, RPh has been a community and pharmacy leader in Northeast Wisconsin for over 30 years. He is the Pharmacy Director for United Healthcare in Wisconsin and formerly the Director of Pharmaceutical Services at Touchpoint Healthplan. Terry helped create the Everyone Teaching Compliance (ETC) program, which helps health care providers coordinate care to improve medication utilization for 16 disease states. Along with increasing pharmacist’s involvement in the delivery of health care, Terry created and implemented a cognitive reimbursement program for pharmacists which has become the basis for part of the Medication Therapy Management (MTM) program being developed in Wisconsin.
